Our Story

Most people would say that brothers Mario and Emilio Tedeschi have wine in their blood. They began their wine journey in Calistoga, a small town in northern Napa Valley. Working alongside their father, long-time Napa Valley vintner Emil Tedeschi, the brothers learned how to care for vines at an early age. Mario was helping his father in the cellar at the age of 16, where he first learned about topping and racking. Mario would then work under notable winemakers Scott Harvey and David Sundberg.

In addition to winemaking, Mario would assist his father with grapegrowing and farming the family’s vineyards. Today Mario oversees vineyard management operations at his family’s Tedeschi Company, specializing in northern premium AVAs including Spring Mountain District, Diamond Mountain, Chalk Hill, Calistoga, and St. Helena. Grape clients from his vineyards under management have included The Prisoner, Black Stallion, Cain, Merus Estates, Herzog Wine Cellars, LOLA, Pellegrini, and Saddleback Cellars.

Emilio completed his B.S. in Biochemistry at Gonzaga University and later completed an MBA in Wine Business at Sonoma State University. Emilio began working at Tedeschi Family Winery in the Tasting Room before making his way to the Wine Club department, helped with various winemaking jobs on the crushpad during harvest, and now runs the winery as General Manager. Together Mario and Emilio have been able to explore vineyards all over Northern California and experiment in producing a vast array of varietals in the pursuit of learning and trying new things. When they’re not doing wine, Mario can be found on the lake and Emilio in the mountains.

Over the course of their vineyard exploration, the brothers have discovered an affinity for select pockets within Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Lake County, Amador County, and Mendocino. Drawing from their roots, they are dedicated to producing wines that marry traditional winemaking with a modern approach. Every wine is single-vineyard, overseen from grape to bottle by Mario & Emilio. Northbrook wines are sourced from vineyard sites specifically chosen over many years. Each vineyard has its own personality and brings a different characteristic to our wines.
